FAQ

Why can’t I create or use a custom label for the Date field?

If this is your problem, there is a high possibility that you iPhone is configured to synchronize Contacts with a Microsoft’s Exchange Server account. To check your synchronization configuration with your accounts, go to iPhone Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Check if you have a Microsoft’s Exchange Server account. If you have one, check if it is configured to synchronize contact information. If you disable contact synchronization, you will be able to create and use custom labels again. If you still decide to synchronize your contacts with your Microsoft’s Exchange Server, there is an alternative way to save anniversary dates using the Note field in Contacts. Please refer to the part “Using the Note Field to Save Anniversaries” in the manual for more information.

What does the different colors mean in the table?

The colors appear differently depending on how far the dates in the list are away from the current day. The anniversaries which date back two weeks ago, a week ago, and the ones that are to come in the next 30 days are colored all differently.

What does the Number displayed in the upper right corner of iHappyDays icon on my iPhone home screen stand for?

It stands for the number of anniversaries that iHappyDays can find from Contacts for the current day. Since applications cannot run in the background on iPhone, the number will only be updated when iHappyDays is first used on each day.

Can I be notified about the anniversaries?

Apple SDK does not allow developers to implement notification service without using APNS(Apple Push Notification Service). We are carefully planning on supporting the notification feature using APNS in the near future.

Can the anniversary information be set(or managed) else where besides from Contacts?

Synchronization and the back-up process of your precious information can be difficult if the anniversary information were to be stored and managed separately from Contacts. We determined that the best way to manage such information was by using Contacts and it is how it is done. If you would like to set special dates which does not really associate to any person, such as holidays, You can use the features that iHappyDays provides. Add a contact with the name “anniversary” and use the Note field for that purpose. For example, Add the following in the Note field of your “anniversary” entry in Contacts

---
NewYears:1/1
Thanksgiving Day:8/15

* For those people who have experienced data loss during the recovery process or switching to another iPhone(or iPod) might agree that iHappyDays is making good use of Contacts.

    Converting from Palm.
    On my palm I kept multiple dates for a person.
    * death of family member
    * AA birthday.
    * multiple anniversaries,
    Will iHappyDays accomodate more than the 3 date fields on iPhone like it did on Palm?

    I have two lines for every name???? Can’t you tell it which contact list to use??? Sync with outlook and what’s on phone. Don’t need everything twice.

    Do I just need to delete this app???

    음력으로 생일이나 기념일 넣고 sort된 리스트를 볼 수 있다했는데 입력 자체가 어떻게 해야 하는지 잘 모르겠습니다.
    자세히 알려주실 수 있으신지요? 아님 연락처라도 주시면..

    I just bought the app but it does not work as it should.

    First of all, I add a new contact with all my anniversary dates in its note. When I hit the refresh button it clears the screen with NO UPDATE.

    Next, I renamed the contact to “Anniversary”, Still, does not work.

    When I used a date field with a custom label, it appears to be working,

    I hope that the bugs can be fixed and want to have an updated version.

    Thank you.

    I am using iHappyDays with push notification. Is there anything I can do to populate the events over to a google calendar? I understand Apple won’t accept API onto their calendar, but I was wondering if perhaps another calendar could be used for iHappyDays alerts. I really miss not seeing the HD notifications on my calendar (used to use it w/Palm). Thank you!
